The Canadian Woodlands Forum
is now looking for nominees for the 2022 Atlantic Outstanding Forestry Contractor of the Year Award, an annual celebration that highlights and recognizes outstanding independent contractors and operators who work in Atlantic Canada’s woodlands operations.

“The award aims to raise the profile and recognition of the logging and forest trucking professions’ contribution to managing the forest resource in a sustainable manner,” the CWF statement said.

Eligibility

  • All logging contractors involved in the cutting and handling of wood and/or the transport from the stump to roadside (cut and/or move a minimum of 5,000 m3 of round wood annually; this includes manual and/or mechanical operations) can be nominated.
  • All full-time trucking contractors whose primary business involves transporting wood or chips directly from the forest to the mills (as opposed to mill-to-mill transport), and transport a minimum of 5,000 tonnes of roundwood or forest sourced chips annually.
  • Nominees must have business insurance, be in good standing with WCB; meet all regulatory requirements; work with landowners and companies; practice good utilization and optimization. For trucking, nominees must be ensuring safe loads for transport on highways travelled by the public; keep their equipment well maintained; and support their local community and industry associations.

Award

  • An engraved plaque, prestigious peavey, cash prizes, company profiles in regional and national trade magazines, complimentary registration at CWF spring meeting, and one year complimentary membership.

The deadline to submit a nomination is June 30th, 2022. Learn more and find the nomination form on the CWF website.
