According to RCFD Public Information Officer Lt. Jim Bussell, the fire started in a dryer used to dry pellets used for wood burning stoves. The fire soon spread to sawdust around the initial fire and on to other areas nearby.
Forward progress of the fire was halted successfully, but the massive amounts of sawdust required further overhaul by the fire crews.
No injuries were reported, and Lt. Bussell thanked the Forest Products staff for providing access to the fire and technical assistance.
