It’s likely we’re going to get more Kevin Durant trade opinions in the next few weeks before we actually get a resolution on a trade demand he gave the Brooklyn Nets in late June that was reiterated last week with an explosive sit-down with owner Joe Tsai.
Durant told Tsai that either he has his trade request honored by the Nets or GM Sean Marks and HC Steve Nash be let go by the organization. That has led to both the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers emerging as the new frontrunners for the former 2x NBA Finals MVP after his first two preferred destinations (Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat) won’t give up the necessary assets (Devin Booker and Bam Adebayo, respectively) to get a deal done.
With two major cities in Boston and Philadelphia now in the running for arguably the greatest individual scorer in the game today, talking heads are coming out of the woodwork to pitch in their two cents on the matter.

Per ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne, Kevin Durant and James Harden ‘are back on good terms now despite [James] Harden forcing his way out of Brooklyn.’ That is good news for 76ers fans hoping to see the most intimidating Big 3 (KD-Harden-Joel Embiid) ever assembled this offseason.
Durant and Harden were recently backstage together at a Travis Scott concert in London, so unless their mutual love for the Houston-based rapper is so strong that they’d be willing to put up with each other (and party) it’s safe to say that the two former teammates in Brooklyn and Oklahoma City are, as Shelbourne notes, back on good terms.
What does this mean for a Kevin Durant trade, though? Well, Philadelphia has Tyrese Maxey as a primary return piece to Brooklyn along with Long Island kid Tobias Harris and elite defender Mattise Thybulle, but as long as the Boston Celtics are willing to part with Jaylen Brown they are the team to beat in the KD sweepstakes.
