EXCERPT

China’s 14th five-year plan envisages that around 33.3 million hectares of land will be greened by 2025 and that the proportion of forest will be increased to 24.1%. By 2030, 70 billion trees are expected to grow in the country.

At the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, China’s special envoy on climate change announced further measures:

Strengthening the protection of existing forests

Preservation or planting of 70 billion trees within the next ten years Energy transition and carbon sink

The 1t.org China Action initiative wants to support this plan, which includes afforestation and conservation measures led by the Chinese government. These include urban forest management, sectoral greening measures and special afforestation methods such as aerial seeding, closing mountain slopes to cattle grazing, collecting fuel, restoring degraded forests, forest tending and other methods based on scientific procedures. In addition, one wants to mobilize citizens to participate in voluntary tree planting campaigns.

One trillion trees by 2030

The international organization 1t.org has set itself the goal of planting and protecting one trillion trees by 2030. In addition to the focus in the Amazon, in India, the USA and in the Sahel zone, support is now also being given to reforestation in China.
