Finnish forest machine manufacturer Ponsse will start personnel negotiations next week.
The negotiations will focus on staff reductions and layoffs, which are estimated to be at most 120 annual work units. The negotiations apply to all Ponsse Oyj’s personnel groups and all Finnish operations, with the exception of the technology company Epec Oy.
The adjustment measures are driven by the stagnation of Russian exports, but also by rising manufacturing costs and a halt in profitability and cash flow. Thus, production volumes will be cut and operations will be streamlined, says Juho Nummela , President and CEO of Ponsse Oyj .
“The situation is very twofold. Ponsse’s market situation in the company’s main markets is moderate for the time being, but the halt in Russian exports and local service operations has had a major impact on our operations, profitability and cash flow. In the short term, the Russian market is too large to replace, ”says Nummela.
Sales in Russia and Belarus have accounted for approximately 20 percent of the company’s net sales in 2021.s
