The pellet factory is planned to be put into operation in 2024 and will be built at Moelven Valåsen’s sawmill in Karlskoga. Moelven is investing SEK 382 million (EUR 35.5 million) in the plant that will manufacture pellets.

The investment is the result of the capacity expansion at Moelven’s sawmill in the region. Group management has previously announced an investment package totaling SEK 635 million (EUR 59.1 million) for investments at Moelven Edanesågen AB and Moelven Valåsen AB.

The new pellet factory will be fully integrated with Moelven Valåsen’s sawmill in Karlskoga. The factory is built in the same way as Moelven’s first pellet factory at Sokna in Norway, which is also fully integrated with Moelven Sokna’s mill.

”We have an advantage in that we can take advantage of the experiences from the success story with our first innovative pellet factory in Norway now that we are now going to take on a similar project in Sweden,” says Kristiansen.

The pellet factory will have a capacity of 80,000 tonnes of pellets per year, but is dimensioned to be able to increase production up to 105,000 tonnes per year in the long term. High quality white wood pellets will be produced which will be distributed to the international market via vessels from Lake Vänern.
