Nets fans are getting roasted for an unhinged Kevin Durant trade package involving the Rockets that sends KD to the Celtics Mandatory Credit: Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports
Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe reported that his league sources are saying there “have not even been any real discussions of substance” between the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics on the Kevin Durant trade front.
We’re as far away as ever from a KD trade as we have ever been, but that isn’t stopping mock trades being concocted around the web — including around these parts since we want this Durant-induced Groundhog Day to end as badly as everyone else does.
One Nets fan on Reddit went all out with a three-team trade proposal that, like most, sends Kevin Durant to Boston and Jaylen Brown to Brooklyn, with three future first-round picks headed to the Nets as well. That part of the deal checks out.
Where things become unhinged is how the Houston Rockets figure into the deal.

Somehow, the Rockets would be expected to give up their top three pick this past June and potential franchise cornerstone in Jabari Smith Jr. and their top veteran trade asset in Eric Gordon for Malcolm Brogdon and Grant Williams on an expiring contract and just one future first-round pick.
As ESPN’s Brian Windhorst relayed, there are now two different negotiations going on right now involving Kevin Durant. The first is between all the teams interested in Durant and the Nets, and the second is between Brooklyn and its soon-to-be-34-year-old former 2x NBA Finals MVP.
Windhorst updated the NBA world on where the Nets stand with their desire to keep KD in NYC on NBA Today Tuesday:
“That separate negotiation about what it would like for him to come back. That’s what a big part of the discussion he had with owner Joe Tsai in London about 10, 11 days ago was. Joe Tsai and the Nets believe they have a really good team. They don’t believe they have a good trade for Kevin Durant. They want him to consider coming back. But Durant has very clearly made it known he doesn’t want to play for the Nets under the current situation with the current coach and current GM.”
Rumors about how much Durant doesn’t want to play in Brooklyn got to the point of word getting out that the 12-time All-Star would retire before playing for a Nets team coached by Steve Nash and overseen by GM Sean Marks, but those were squashed by Durant himself. (WARNING: NSFW LANGUAGE)
I know most people will believe unnamed sources over me but if it’s anyone out there that’ll listen, I don’t plan on retiring anytime soon. Shit is comical at this point.

Still, the franchise’s desire to not let KD go while also holding out hope their exorbitant asking price will be met is clearly driving Nets fans (and the rest of the NBA world) crazy.
