EXCERPT

Germany’s current demand for wood pellets is higher than ever. This applies to pellet heating systems as well as pellet stoves. The average price for wood pellets in Germany in July 2022 was €507.83/t. This is 17.7% more than in the previous month and 125.5% more than in July 2021.

There are the following regional differences in the price of pellets in July 2022 (sales of 6 t): In southern Germany, pellets cost €504.02/t. In the middle of the republic the average price is €505.38/t, in north/east Germany €519.84/t.

Larger quantities (26 t) will be traded in July 2021 at the following conditions: South: 490.83 €/t, Central: 483.95 €/t, North/East: 488.87 €/t (all incl. VAT) .

The unrest on the energy markets continues to influence the pellet market to an unforeseeable extent. Consumer uncertainty and the urge to stockpile led to a sharp increase in demand, which, together with rising raw material and production costs, led to a further jump in the price of wood pellets in July. Even the record production of over 1.75 million t and the 11% drop in exports in the first half of 2022 can hardly calm the overheated market.
