Uniboard Canada is moving forward with the modernization project for its Val-d’Or plant.

The $250 million project will see the construction of a new particleboard press and new buildings that will be used for shipping.

In addition to having the latest particleboard production technology, Uniboard announces that the Val-d’Or plant will be carbon negative thanks to the sequestration of carbon in sustainable products and low-emission production. carbonic.

Uniboard will also enter the thin board market, a biocomposite in high demand in the North American market.

The company had already invested $100 million in Val-d’Or during two phases of modernization, in 2015 and 2017.

Construction work will begin this summer and commissioning of the new press is scheduled for early 2025.
